The sun finally sets on Gordon Brown's political career.

After five days of political uncertainty lingering over the UK since the parliamentary election last Thursday failed to produce a clear result as to which party will be governing the country, and endless speculation on the possibility of a hung parliament or even a 'rainbow' coalition, this evening the six o'clock BBC news suggested at last a decision is imminent.  News came through that talks between Gordon Brown's Labour party and  Nick Clegg's Liberal Democrat was reportedly over.   After 13 years on Downing Street, three as prime minister, Mr. Brown is said to be preparing to resign and vacate the premises for a certain David Cameron.  After all the Convservative party did gain the highest number of votes. A dramatic end to a few days of remarkable developments. So it seems the yellow sun is finally setting on Gordon Brown's political career.

The meaning of Blue!

This time of the year, Bluebells spring up in the British countryside as Mother Nature promises. However this year, due to a long harsh winter that we had, I found Bluebells not as vibrant and widespread as previous years. And according to experts, they may not stay around for very long. Nevertheless, the sighting of bluebells is always an uplifting one when I go for walks in the woods of Surrey. This morning, I hoped my spirits would be uplifted too if I woke up to the news that the Conservatives were declared a clear winner in the parliamentary election. I did try to stay up last night to catch the latest developments on the election polls but eventually succumbed to fatigue. But as I was writing this, and as many had predicted, a Hung Parliament has been declared. The Conservative Party – the Blues – have not got a clear majority and Labour – the Reds – are still in power. But for how much longer?

What is your favourite Election Colour! Think Act Vote!

I hope most of you will be joining many of us to go to the polls tomorrow - May 6th - and vote in one of the most "colourful" elections we've seen in the UK.


Blue is usually one of my favourite colours in fashion. But when it comes to political parties of the country, I'm now torn between blue - the Conversatives and yellow - the Liberal Democrats. It's hard to decide and I'm asking myself, putting their manifesto aside, who will make a good prime minister? Campaigner and founder of  "Think Act Vote", Amisha Ghadiali ( of ethical fashion brand, Amisha Jewellery) said: “If politics were a fashion label, you wouldn’t wear it. We want to use creativity to create a community around the choices we make for our future.”  Think Act Vote is using creative energy to inspire people to think positively about our future The campaign kicked-off in February with a competition to design the perfect campaign t-shirt. Judged by a panel of some of ethical fashion’s best-known faces, including Katharine Hamnett and Cyndi Rhoades, as well as “queen of cool” Daisy de Villeneuve, the winning design was printed onto Earth Positive t-shirts and are available to buy for £20.   Eight leading ethical designers…Tara Starlet, Ada Zanditon, Nicola Woods of Beautiful Soul, Sarah Ratty of Ciel, Annika Sanders and Kerry Seager of Junky Styling, Paula Kirkwood of TRAIDremade, Tamsin and Seraphina Davies of Nancy Dee, Katie Wieghtman of Miksani ... were involved in the Refashioned Project, which involved customising the original campaign t-shirt or making a show piece using off-cuts from their previous collections. The purpose? Encourage creativity and show that fashion can be used to express a message. They were sent down the catwalk at UK Aware, Alternative Fashion Week, and are also gracing Think Act Vote’s The Future I Choose Celebration today, 5th May.
